One of Jackie McLean's more underrated albums from a plethora of Blue Note releases, 's Capuchin Swing finds the bebop alto saxophonist in fine form on a mix of covers and originals. While his future fascination with Ornette Coleman's free-form innovations can be sensed in some of the solos here, the majority of the album is in a classic hard bop vein.9/

Just six months after the excellent ‘Swing Swang Swingin’, Jackie McLean recorded another gem ‘Capuchin Swing’, his third release on Blue Note in 14 months. The line-up for this session is Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Paul Chambers (bass), Walter Bishop (piano) and drummer Art Taylor alongside alto saxophonist Jackie McLean. The Latin barnstorming groove of ‘Francisco’ bristles.
