Page 61 N o original or early text of Hosshin wakashC survives, and the earliest evidence for its existence and its authorship is in those anthologies that include poems selected from it. Even at that, the earliest chokusenshh to include a Hosshin wakashu poem is the Shin kokin wakashi, the compilation of which was completed in The three.
